Speaking is a form of teaching and I have always loved teaching. As a dentist, I loved educating my patients about oral health and as a faculty member at the University of Kentucky Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry, I loved working with students. My passion for teaching, genuine care for students and pursuit of excellence led me to receive multiple teaching awards, including the Great Teacher Award, the most prestigious teaching award at the University of Kentucky.
In 2016, I stepped away from academics. I moved in with my mom and dad and cared for my dad who was dying of cancer. I adored my father. Watching him die a little each day, was a turning point in my life. I never want anyone else I love to suffer and die like that. After he died, I made it my mission to dig into the research to see what studies tell us about preventing cancer. What I found was an avalanche of information, especially about foods that fight cancer. I couldn’t NOT share this information! When I was a university faculty member I was an invited speaker on health related topics at many conferences nationally but I have never been more excited about speaking than I am today. I can’t wait to share what I have learned about foods that fight cancer to anyone who will listen! It is a message of HOPE.
I currently speak to small and large groups both locally and nationally. This includes audiences who have limited health knowledge as well as audiences of experienced health care professionals. The length of my presentations range from 30 minutes to 4 hours and are tailored to meet the needs of the audience.
